Murray Independent School District is the recipient of a $5000 TVA Tennessee STEM Innovation Network STEM Classroom Grant. The grant funding was used to purchase a Sphero Blueprint Engineering Class Pack, which will be used in teaching foundational engineering, robotics, and design processes.
Teachers across TVA’s seven-state region applied for funding of up to $5,000 for projects, and 233 applications were selected.
The Tennessee Valley Authority is a corporate agency of the United States that provides electricity for business customers and local power companies serving nearly 10 million people in parts of seven southeastern states. TVA provides flood control, navigation and land management for the Tennessee River system and assists local power companies and state and local governments with economic development and job creation.
“We appreciate TVA and their continued support of STEM education,” said Mechelle Morgan, MISD Director of Instructional Technology. “The funding from this grant will help make engineering engaging and accessible to all students.”
Schools who are awarded grants must receive their power from a local power company served by TVA. Murray Electric System collaborates in all TVA school partnerships.
