Our Academic Accomplishments
According to Niche.com, MISD is ranked #2 out of 168 K-12 Kentucky public school districts. Murray Independent is also ranked #1 for Districts with the Best Teachers in Kentucky and #6 of the Best Places to Teach in Kentucky.
Murray Independent is proud to have two National Blue Ribbon Schools within our district. An important part of the U.S. Department of Education, the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program recognizes outstanding public and non-public schools. In identifying several hundred outstanding schools annually, the program celebrates school excellence, turn around stories, and closing subgroup achievement gaps. The Award is both a high aspiration and a potent resource of practitioner knowledge.
Murray High School was named a 2015 National Blue Ribbon School and Murray Elementary was named a 2019 National Blue Ribbon School.
The 2020 U.S. News and World Report ranks Murray High School 15th within Kentucky High Schools and recognizes Murray High School as one of the best high schools in the nation. Murray High received the Silver Medal Distinction.
2017 marked the 15th year in a row that Murray High School has had student representatives attend the Foundation for International Space Education United Space School. The school is an interdisciplinary program that annually brings together up to 50 students from 25 different nations to study.
MMS was identified as a National Title I Distinguished School for its exceptional student performance in two consecutive academic years. Murray Middle School is one of two schools identified in Kentucky.
