Stacy Thomas, Murray High School Alumnus and Community Outreach & Diversity Coordinator for McCracken County Public Schools, will Present "African Americans and Labor," at the Murray High School Black History Program, March 5, at 2 p.m. inside MHS Taylor Gymnasium.
As the McCracken County Public Schools Community Outreach and Diversity Coordinator, who has served in this capacity four years, Thomas is afforded the opportunity to assist in creating spaces for students and staff to provide access and opportunities for all. She has been instrumental in creating two inaugural student campus groups at McCracken County High School, the African American Leadership Club, and the Remix Equity Club. In addition, she has worked in conjunction with the Administration and District leaders to help create more equitable hiring practices for the McCracken County Public schools.
Thomas is credited with implementing the first ever District Equity Advisory Council, made up of different staff members across the district, whose purpose is to help provide ways that will seek to improve school/district culture and climate. Prior to her current position, Thomas served as the Family Resource & Youth Services Center Director for McCracken County High School for seven and a half years where she coordinated the efforts to eliminate any non-academic barriers for over two-thousand students. Additionally, Thomas was the former Business Education and Leadership Director for the Paducah Area Chamber of Commerce for nearly ten years, directing the prestigious Leadership Paducah & Youth L.E.A.D programs.
Thomas holds a master’s in organizational communication from Murray State University and has trained employees and students from various businesses and organizations in Western Kentucky on diversity, leadership, effective communication, and group development. Stacy loves to see people grow, learn, and develop both personally and professionally.
Thomas’s hobbies include traveling with friends, hiking and hanging out with her mini-Aussie doodle, Pierre DaShawn Antonio Thomas.
