Leah Jenkins, a senior at Murray High School, has earned a 36, the highest possible ACT composite score.

Jenkins is the third MHS student to score a perfect 36 since the implementation of the 30 + club in 2019. The previous students to achieve the score include Chase Renick and Rianna Peng.

She was already a part of the ninety-nine Murray High School students who have achieved a 30 or above since 2019 and have been inducted into the 30+ Club. Most recently, seven more MHS students achieved a 30 or above on their ACT, and as students continue to take the ACT throughout the year, more will be added. The induction ceremony will be held in spring of 2025.

A member of the MHS Band, Cross Country, Track, BETA, and The National Honor Society, Jenkins said after taking it the first time she felt more prepared the second time she took the test. “Throughout my education, the Murray teachers and school system have prepared me very well for the ACT,” Jenkins said.

“Students with higher ACT scores benefit with increased scholarship opportunities and KEES monies, while also opening doors for more college admission possibilities,” said Morgan Carman, MHS school counselor.

Murray High School provides assistance with ACT initiatives including ACT Academy, ACT Workshops, as well as the fact that MHS teachers embed ACT prep into their curriculums.

“It is my pleasure to congratulate Leah for this extraordinary achievement and it articulates the extra effort put forth toward her studies while at Murray High.” stated Coy Samons, MISD superintendent.

Tony Jarvis, MHS principal, said MHS staff and students are very excited for Jenkins' perfect ACT score. “We are so proud of Leah, and we join her family in saluting her accomplishment. Leah is a great young person and such a pleasure to have at school every day. I look forward to seeing what her future holds! She’s a great example of a Murray High Tiger."
