Murray Independent School District Celebrates MISD Students, Staff, and School Community in the 2023-2024 Kentucky Accountability Data

MISD Celebrates Test Scores

Murray, Ky., Oct 3---Murray Independent School District is proud to celebrate MISD students, staff, and school community in the latest release of Kentucky Accountability data for the 2023-2024 school year.

Under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) and Senate Bill 158 (2020), Kentucky Schools are held accountable for a combination of academic and school quality indicators and measures known as “state indicators”.  The state indicators include: state assessment results in Reading & Math, state assessment results in Science, Social Studies and Writing, English Learner Progress, Quality of School Climate and Safety, Postsecondary Readiness (high school only), and Graduation Rate (high school only).  For each state indicator there are five Status Ratings ranging from very high to very low and five Change Ratings from increased significantly to declined significantly.  In addition an Overall Performance Rating is determined by combining performance in the state indicators based on both Status and Change.

Murray Independent is proud of each school for their performance on the state assessments and other indicators in this year's accountability system.  Murray Elementary and Murray High received the top rating, Blue, and Murray Middle received the overall rating of Green.  In multiple areas/indicators Murray Independent Schools rank at the top of the list for student performance and success. Notably, Murray Independent’s District High School Score, 85.2, was the 6th highest in the state; District Elementary School Score, 84.9 (Murray Elementary-3rd Grade & Murray Middle 4th-5th Grades) was the 7th highest District Elementary score in Kentucky, and the District Middle School Score, 74.9 (Murray Middle 6th-8th grades), was the 11th highest in the state.  Also of note, Murray High School’s ACT composite average for the 2024 Junior Class was 22.3, which is the highest District composite average in the state and the 4th highest high school score statewide.
