Christopher M. Vaughn, II, (Deuce), the Dallas Cowboys Running Back (#42) will speak at Murray High School, March 18, 2024, at 2:05 p.m., in observance of the Legacy of Black History: Beating the Odds.
Christopher M. Vaughn, II also known as “Deuce” was born, November 2, 2001, in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Vaughn began playing sports at the age of three, exploring soccer, baseball, basketball, and flag football. His love has always been American football and with his parent’s approval when he was a sixth grader, he was allowed to gear up in a helmet and pads. Vaughn made a choice early to always work hard on and off the field to achieve the goals he set for himself and as a football player. His unmatched work ethic afforded him the best opportunities to succeed under the lights on Friday nights, Saturdays and now Sundays.
Vaughn attended Cedar Ridge High School in Round Rock, Texas where he achieved 5,472 career all-purpose yards and 50 total touchdowns. After high school, Vaughn attended Kansas State University where he majored in Business Marketing. As a KSU freshman, he was named Big XII Freshman of the year and earned numerous positions on All American teams with multiple freshmen. Vaughn also led Kansas State in rushing yards, receiving yards and all-purpose yards (1,221) his freshman year. Vaughn then followed up his freshman campaign with back-to-back consensus All American seasons in 2021 and 2022.
Vaughn declared early for the 2023 NFL draft. On April 29, 2023, the Dallas Cowboys drafted Vaughn in the sixth-round pick number 212. The special moment of that pick is that his dad, Chris Vaughn, Assistant Director of College Scouting, was given the opportunity to call and ask him to be a Dallas Cowboy. Vaughn earned a spot on the 53-man roster and was a member of the 2023-2024 Dallas Cowboy’s Roster team.
Vaughn’s father, Chris Vaughn, is a Murray State University alumnus and former MSU football player. His mother, Marquette Foster Vaughn is a native of Murray, a Murray High School, and Murray State University alumnus. His younger sister, Cienna, a senior at the University of Arkansas, and Camryn, a senior at Cedar Ridge High School, are his two biggest cheerleaders.
There will be a reception from 1:30-2 p.m. at Murray High School. A special performance by the Murray High School Choir will be included in the program. Murray High School alumni and friends, and community members are invited to attend.
