KSBA’s regional meetings have existed in some form since the association’s founding in 1936, so Murray Independent, as a regional host, has a central role in continuing one of our oldest traditions. KSBA’s 2023 Regional Meetings provide opportunities for local school board members, superintendents and other education stakeholders to interact and ultimately learn from each other. Kerri Schelling, KSBA executive director, said the unique issues facing public schools don’t have easy answers, but spending time with peers who are experiencing the same challenges provides valuable perspective and insight as members work to meet the needs of their students and communities. "By asking questions and listening closely, these important discussions directly impact how our association approaches advocacy efforts in Frankfort on behalf of Kentucky’s 171 public school districts. We are grateful to Murray Independent for hosting our meeting tonight and for all our members in KSBA’s First Region."
Smee said the MISD was very excited to host the KSBA Region 1 meeting. "It's a great opportunity to learn about all the advocacy that this organization does on behalf of school boards across the Commonwealth. It's been a very challenging year for so many school boards and being able to connect with others in this role is extremely helpful."
“The Murray Independent School District appreciates the opportunity to host a KSBA regional event to discuss public school issues with stakeholders throughout western Kentucky,” stated Coy Samons, MISD Superintendent.
