The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) is proud to announce the first recipients of the annual State Recognition of Fidelity of Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports (PBIS) for schools, successfully implementing PBIS, during the 2021-2022 school year. Based upon their level of implementation at fidelity, as defined in our State Recognition of Fidelity Standards, 141 schools applied for one of three acknowledgments, Bronze, Silver, or Gold. The three respective Murray Independent School District campuses earned the following Bronze and Silver recognitions: Murray Elementary School- State PBIS Fidelity (Bronze level, Tier 1),Murray Middle School-State PBIS Fidelity (Silver level, Tier 2), and Murray High School-State PBIS Fidelity (Bronze level, Tier 1)
During the Murray Board of Education October meeting, Cristy Tomes BIS/ISF Consultant Safe and Supportive Schools Branch, Division of Student Success, Office of Continuous Improvement and Support (with Kentucky Department of Education), presented each MISD school representative with a banner and a sticker with their level of recognition to display their accomplishments being recognized for successfully implementing PBIS during the 2021-2022 school year. (They will also be eligible for subsequent acknowledgments in future years.)
Jason E. Glass Ed.D. Commissioner of Education and Chief Learner said the Kentucky Department of Education is confident that all these schools will continue to progress toward future goals around PBIS. "We wish you continued success as you establish and sustain effective and equitable supports to assure that all students achieve social, emotional, and academic success."
