Murray High School freshman, sophomore, junior and senior students were recognized in a special positive behavior ceremony inside the Murray High School Bob Rogers Auxiliary Gym.
Implementing the Positive Behavior program at Murray High School (MHS) has enabled students to be recognized by MHS faculty and staff who value their accomplishments, while encouraging positive behavior. Approximately 280 students representing each respective grade level were nominated for ROAR rewards, which are based on the MHS positive behavior program. ® Respect, (O) On-Task, (A) Attitude and ® Responsible are the four positive behaviors represented.
Tony Jarvis, MHS principal, said the Murray High staff is so excited to have this program. "We are so excited to have this program operating at Murray High "Big shout out to both the students and the teacher leaders, Mrs. Gooch and Mr. Franklin who have worked at making this such a success."
In addition to weekly ROAR rewards drawings, a culminating end of the semester event occurs to encourage ore nominations.
"I love the fact that we’ve implemented PBIS. The goal is not to help create perfect children, but PBIS helps create a perfect environment for enhancing their growth not just as students but as humans." said Tyler Franklin, MHS instructor and co-director of the PBIS program.
Recently students were rewarded by grade level with a special treat ceremony sponsored by CFSB inside the MHS Auxiliary Gym. The treats were given as rewards recognizing students who were nominated for the PBIS traits, while encouraging their positive behavior, and valuing their accomplishments.
MHS PBIS co-director Emily Gooch said the program has made great strides since it began. “The immediacy and feedback to students on their positive behaviors, is really the part that is making a big difference since we’ve started PBIS.”
