Shout out to our Family Resource Youth Service Center and Murray High’s DEN Services for their Summer Activity Pick Up Program and Back to School Supply Giveaway. Throughout the seven-week Summer Activity Program, 970 activity bags were handed out to students during the weekly Wednesday program, while prior to the start of school, the School Supply giveaway assisted 305 students receive back to school supplies.
Morgan Carman, FRYSC Director, said that since COVID has removed numerous face-to-face interactions with students and families, these summer drive-through activities remained in an effort to continue to reach our students and parents. “We created a way to engage our families and provide a service that would be worth their time,” she explained.
Jane Ann Turner, Den Services director, agreed. “It was another successful summer with our family activity bags. The families seem to love this weekly service,” she said. “Our school supply give-away is just ideal for these families that struggle financially to know this is one purchase they don’t have to worry about.”
Carman said the families were very grateful for this program, while the students have expressed how fun the activities were. “We had a great summer providing activities for families hoping to encourage at home learning and the importance of family time
