Murray, Ky., April 20, 2021---The Murray High School Guidance Office has announced the 2021 MHS Governor Scholar Program (GSP) Recipients: Isaac Bourne, Emily Burditt, Luke Cross, Caroline Koenig, Andrew Orr, Amanda Peiffer, and Eliana Purcell. These MHS GSP 2021 recipients were selected from a pool of 1,700 applicants. The GSP Statewide Selection Committee faced some very difficult choices in selecting the 2021 Scholars from a highly competitive field of 1700 outstanding young Kentuckians.
This year’s Governor Scholars will meet at one of three Kentucky universities this summer: Centre College in Danville, Morehead State University in Morehead, or Bellarmine University in Louisville. Students will receive a packet of detailed information from the Governor’s Scholars Program, and in late May, students will be notified of their respective campus and focus area assignments.
Governor Scholars are selected from across Kentucky and represent the diversity of the Commonwealth.. The program is singularly free from competition, creating an environment that is conducive to building a community of friends and colleagues. The program offers Scholars a chance to know and make friends with other enthusiastic, energetic students with high intellectual capacities. The give-and-take among Scholars from different backgrounds is one of the most treasured aspects of the program.
Emily Burditt is the daughter of Keith and Mary Burditt. Caroline Koenig is the daughter of Stephen and Staci Koenig. Amanda Peiffer is the daughter of Teresa Peiffer. Eliana Purcell is the daughter of Alison Purcell and Jason Purcell. Issac Bourne is the son of Eric and Jennie Bourne. Luke Cross is the son of Rob and Summer Cross.
