MISD Superintendent Releases Statement About MHS Lockdown - 1/25/21

MISD Stakeholders,

This morning at approximately 8:54 a.m. the Murray Police Department received a report of shots fired and hearing gun shots at the Murray High School. Within minutes, officers from several local law enforcement agencies responded to the school and cleared the entire campus.

Law enforcement found no evidence of gun shots and all students and staff are safe. The investigation is ongoing at this time and more information will be released when available. During the  lockdown students, staff and faculty are asked to shelter in place until they receive further instructions from the administration.

I am very pleased with the actions of our staff and students and very proud of the quick response by our local law enforcement.

Students were allowed to leave early if they chose to do so. Classes at MISD will continue as normal for the remainder of the week. Counselors will be on hand in the days ahead for staff and students.

A press conference was held following the events with Murray Independent administration and the Murray Police Department.  That press conference can be viewed here: https://bit.ly/3iMXHOE
