January 5, 2021
Students, Parents, Teachers, and Staff of the Murray Independent School District,
At this time, Murray Independent students (PS-12) are scheduled to return for in-person classes on January 11, 2021. The Executive Order signed by Governor Andy Beshear on December 18, 2020 (attached), requires the delivery of in-person instruction to be adjusted if the COVID-19 incidence rate of a county reflects 25+ cases per 100,000 people (Critical-Red Zone).
Per the COVID-19 Current Incidence Rate Map provided by the Kentucky Department of Public Health, as of Monday, January 04, 2021, Calloway County shows an incidence rate of 43.6 (Critical-Red Zone) with an additional 37 positive COVID-19 cases reported yesterday by the Calloway County Health Department.
Kindergarten through Grade 12
Beginning, Monday, January 11, 2021, the Murray Independent School District will provide four-days per week of in-person instruction for K-12 students (Monday-Tuesday and Thursday-Friday) for families that choose to participate. An online option will continue to be offered for students and families who prefer this mode of instruction. All students will participate in Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI) on Wednesday of each week. If questions, please contact your child’s school.
Preschool/Head Start
Preschool/Head Start Centers will continue to offer virtual and in-person modes of instruction. Due to the Calloway County red zone status, preschool in-person instruction will include a two-day schedule, and two days of non-traditional instruction. Any additional questions may be directed to the Preschool/Head Start Office at (270) 809-3262.
Food Service
Murray Independent Schools will continue to provide meals for children ages 0-18. Information on times and locations is available on the district’s website www.murray.kyschools.us or by calling (270) 753-5700.
Thank you,
Coy D. Samons, Superintendent
