Murray High Speech Team Finds Virtual Success
Murray, Ky., Nov. 19------Since the middle of October, the Murray High Speech Team has won 40 individual awards across five various online competitions. Although Speech Team members are not able to travel on a school bus for tournaments, the team shares their voices from the safety of their own homes through the magic of online tournaments.
Murray High students placed in the following events in the final round of competition at the Henry Clay Speak of the Devil Online Tournament on October 24th: Broadcasting - Skylar Swalls, 3rd and Raegan Settle, 5th; Dramatic Interpretation - Charlie Heeke, 4th, Duo Interpretation - Jesse Adams/Gabriel Crass, 1st; Informative - Katelynn Stanczyk, 4th; and Prose - Katelynn Stanczyk, 3rd.
Members of the Murray High Speech Team were recognized for their achievements in competition at the Ryle Virtually Haunted Online Tournament on October 31st: Broadcasting - Raegan Settle, 1st; Dramatic Interp - Ella Brown-Terry, 3rd; Duo Interp - Jesse Adams/Gabriel Crass, 1st; Improvisational Duo - Jesse Adams/Gabriel Crass, 2nd; Informative - Katelynn Stanczyk, 1st; and Prose - Katelynn Stanczyk, 4th and Olivia Kelly, 6th. The team placed 3rd overall at Ryle.
Speech Team members won awards in the LaRue County Online Only Invitational Tournament held on November 7th: Broadcasting - Raegan Settle, 3rd and Skylar Swalls, 4th; Dramatic Interp - Ella Brown-Terry, 2nd and Charlie Heeke, 8th; Duo Interp - Jesse Adams/Gabriel Crass, 4th; Extemporaneous Speaking - Kyra Shutt, 7th; Improv Duo - Jesse Adams/Gabriel Crass; Informative - Katelynn Stanczyk, 2nd; Poetry - Alyssa Daughrity, 3rd; Program Oral Interpretation - Charlie Heeke, 3rd; and Prose - Olivia Kelly, 7th. The team placed 3rd overall at LaRue.
That same weekend, on November 7th, Murray High also competed in the Henry County Online Tournament: Dramatic Interp - Ella Brown-Terry, 1st and Charlie Heeke, 5th; Duo Interp - Jesse Adams/Gabriel Crass, 2nd; Extemp - Kyra Shutt, 6th; Humorous Interpretation - Amanda Peiffer, 4th; Impromptu Speaking - Sage Mize-Harper, 1st; Informative - Katelynn Stanczyk, 2nd; and Poetry - Alyssa Daughrity, 3rd. The team placed 3rd overall at Henry County.
This past weekend, the Murray High Speech Team took fourth place in the Dunbar portion of the Better Together Tournaments. Murray High students placed in the following events: Dramatic - Ella Brown-Terry, 2nd; Duo - Jesse Adams/Gabriel Crass. 2nd; Extemp - Kyra Shutt, 4th; Improv Duo - Jesse Adams/Gabriel Crass, 7th; Informative - Katelynn Stanczyk, 1st; POI - Charlie Heeke, 5th; and Storytelling - Giselle French, 6th.
The Murray High Speech Team continues online competition with the KHSSL Extra Gravy Invitational this weekend. The team is coached by Michael Robinson, Drew Thompson, Doris Cella, and Randy Patterson.
