MHS Senior Kendyll English Commits to Murray State University Women’s Soccer Program
In a ceremony inside Murray High School’s Taylor Gymnasium, Kendyll English committed to continue her soccer with the Murray State University Women’s Soccer Program.
• Four- year MHS varsity starter
• During that time, her teams have a record of 53-25-3.
• Scored 44 goals and had 28 assists during high school career
• During her four years, she has led the Lady Tiger backline to 39 shutouts
• Integral part of 2 All-A Region titles, a 2-A Section title, 2 District Championships, and 2 Region Finalists appearances.
• Voted twice as the team’s defensive Player of the Year, and twice as the team’s Most Valuable Player by her teammates
• Region and State Coaches named her to the All-District team twice, the All-Region teams four times, named her the Region One Player of the Year twice, and she was named to the All-State First team three times.
“There is no doubt that Kendyll’s achievements on the soccer field are arguably the most impressive this Region has ever seen. But I am prouder of the young woman she has grown into over the six years I have had the privilege of coaching her. She is one of the most dedicated and hardworking kids I have had the pleasure of coaching and certainly the most competitive,” said Michael Mangold, MHS Girls Soccer Coach. “This program is going to miss Kendyll enormously both on and off the field. I am selfishly very excited that she will continue her soccer career here in Murray and congratulate her on her future as a Murray State Racer.”

“It is a privilege to welcome this exceptional group of students to Murray State University,” said University President Dr. Ron K. Patterson. “Their dedication to academic excellence is remarkable, and we are proud to provide a rigorous, high-impact curriculum that will inspire, challenge, and support each of our Presidential Fellows as they work toward their professional and personal aspirations.”
Students selected for the Presidential Fellowship scholarship complete a rigorous multi-step application process that includes multiple in-person interviews. During their time at Murray State, recipients of the scholarship are responsible for conducting extensive research projects and serving as leaders in the campus community.
“Our Presidential Fellows are all outstanding academic achievers, but they are also selected based on their demonstrated leadership potential and service to their communities,” said Dr. Jessica Naber, director of the Honors College.
“Presidential Fellows engage in undergraduate research under the guidance of a faculty mentor and frequently publish their work before leaving Murray State,” Naber added. “Besides excelling in research, Presidential Fellows often take leadership roles in student groups, ranging from the Student Government Association to Greek organizations. Fellows also participate in Education Abroad programs, developing adaptability and cultural understanding.”
Incoming first-year students who have a 28 ACT composite score minimum (or 1250 SAT verbal and math combined score minimum), along with a 3.7 GPA on a 4.0 scale, are eligible to apply for the Presidential Fellowship scholarship.
